PRIMARY 2.0

This may seem repetitive, but we must really stress that voters must NOT ignore the August 2nd Primary!

Our Primary was split into two separate elections.

Due to the current election map situation our State Representative, State Senate, and State Central Committee races have been pushed back to August 2nd. For now.

We will keep you apprised of any changes as they occur.

Here is a list of the races to expect for the August 2nd Primary:

  • In Ohio's 54th Statehouse District we have incumbent Dick Stein being challenged by write-in candidate Kathleen Beyer.

  • In the 53rd Statehouse District there is a race between Marty Gallagher and Sarah McGervey, the winner goes on to face Democrat incumbent Joe Miller in November, assuming he doesn't lose to the write-in candidate challenging him.

  • In Ohio's 52nd Statehouse District incumbent Representative Gayle Manning is running unopposed.

  • In Ohio's 13th State Senate District we have incumbent State Senator Nathan Manning being challenged by Kirstin Hill, who is also our representative on the State Board of Education.

  • The currently appointed Ohio Republican Party State Central Committee Man, David Arredondo, is the incumbent being challenged by Mike Witte and Peter Aldrich.

  • Incumbent Ohio Republican Party State Central Committee Woman, Patty Stein, is being challenged by Jean Anderson.

MESSAGE FROM CHAIRMAN ARREDONDO:

A Message from our Executive Chairman, Saturday May 21, 2022

Good Saturday Team!

I want to update you on some more data regarding our Primary Election, May 3. Although, just about 21% of registered voters participated for a total of 46,000, 26,000 Republicans turned out compared to 18,000 Democrats. This is a significant increase compared to the 2018 primary. In Ohio this year, 1.1 million Republicans voted versus 500,000 Democrats. Nationwide in the primaries held thus far, Republicans hold the edge 61-39%.

Lorain County Republicans gave DeWine-Husted, 13,134 votes or 51.82%, compared to the state total of 48.1%.

J.D. Vance received 7,641, votes or 30.16% compared to his statewide 32.2%. Although he finished third in Ohio, Matt Dolan came in second in Lorain County with 6,903 votes, 27.24% versus 23.3% statewide. Josh Mandel finished third in the county, 6,318 votes, 24.93% but second statewide, 23.9%.

Please remember that we have a second primary August 2 to choose our candidates for the Ohio state senate, house of representatives, and state central committee.

Our General Election ticket begins at the top with our incumbent governor Mike Dewine, followed by our state office holders, Congressman Bob Latta, senate candidate J.D. Vance, our state senator and state representatives, Supreme Court justices, Court of Appeals incumbents, Judge Darrel Bilancini for Court of Common Pleas, Jeff Riddell, county commissioner, and Rodger Roeser, county auditor.

Of utmost importance is electing Justice Sharon Kennedy as Chief Justice of the Ohio Supreme Court. We also need to retain Justices Pat Fischer and Pat DeWine to ensure our 4-3 majority.

Our Lorain County Republican Party will spare no expense in helping our candidates. If you wish to help, please go to our website, loraincountygop.org, to make a donation or signup as a volunteer.

Thank you and stay involved.
David Arredondo, Executive Chairman
